Metalships & Docks

Metalships & Docks is a private shipyard established in Vigo, in the northwest coast of Spain, carrying out shiprepair and conversion activities since 1986, with land and premises on a flat 80.000 m2 of which 21.000 meters are covered areas: workshops, warehouses and offices.

The shipyard is equipped with two floating docks, able to dry-dock vessels of up to approximately 160 meters in length:

– Dock 1: 5.000 tons lifting capacity, 127,6m L.O.A., 22,5m internal – workable – breadth, for ships up to 8.500 dwt
– Dock 2: 10.000 tons lifting capacity, 162,0m L.O.A., 28,5m internal – workable – breadth, for ships up to 25.000 dwt

A slipway covered by telescopic sheds, portal cranes of 140t, 56t and 25t, of 130m and 38m, provided with 740m of wharves with up to 9m draft, complete the facilities making them ideal to efficiently carry out shipbuilding, shiprepairing and conversions of medium sized vessels.

Four more portal tower cranes of 25t and two jib cranes of 5t serve the facilities outdoors, completing these with various overhead gantry cranes inside the buildings, of sizes ranging from 3t to 50t lifting capacity. The shipyard is also provided with a Kamag transporter of 250t capacity.

The workforce of Metalships & Docks is of about 100 employees (fixed employed), plus a variable workforce (subcontractors) reaching peaks of up to 1000 workers, all coming from an area with an old tradition in shipbuilding and shiprepair as Vigo is.

Metalships & Docks has obtained the following certificates for quality, environmental and occupational risk prevention: ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and OSHAS 18001:1999.
